Impressions from the reading life

Der Goldene Kompass - Philip Pullman, Wolfram Ströle, Andrea Kann So many peple seem to love His dark materials, but I don't really get it. I read the series some years ago, and the whole world Pullman develops in it appeared a strange place to me. I couldn't identify with or love the characters. I couldn't understand their motives. I thought I'd try with a few years distance, because I did realize there were some deeper philosophic thoughts in Pullman's work. Now I started reading again and it feels just the same.
