Impressions from the reading life
Oh my. This book. It could have been cut down by a third easily. Those dialogues... wooden and artificial, with the eternal "X said" and variations attached to each sentence.
Also, I don't think Mark Watney is an interesting character, or likeable, at all. He's a jerk. And I'm not saying that because I've got a soft spot for the Seventies (I haven't).
Third, there be seriously pathetic scenes. I began skipping those parts.
The narrative is structured in a simple way: Problem – Solution – Repeat
I really don't get why this book is so popular. I'm not even interested in writing a coherent review. Just glad I finally made it through.
